Foreign-language document logging for offshore legal support
Track language, source, translation status, and reviewer needs while qualified reviewers control meaning and legal use.
Identify the source document
Record the file name, matter, date shown, apparent language, page count, and source location. Preserve the original file and note when language identification is uncertain.
Track the review lane
Use separate statuses for received, language confirmed, translation requested, reviewer questions, and approved version. Do not label a machine output or informal summary as a final translation.
Keep meaning with the reviewer
Ambiguous terms, missing pages, and differences between versions should become questions for counsel or the qualified language reviewer. Support staff maintain the record and protect the source from overwrite.
